The Steamboat Wine Festival is pleased to announce that in 2012, we will again partner with STARS. STeamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports mission is to provide recreational opportunities for people with disabilities, resulting in empowering and enriching the quality of life for its participants. STARS is dedicated to providing opportunities for people with

physical or cognitive disabilities in the Yampa Valley and beyond. STARS began in 2006 as an adaptive winter ski program. STARS now has grown to offer winter and summer programming in skiing, biking, and kayaking along with numerous specialized adaptive recreational sports camps throughout the year. Participating in recreational sports gives people with disabilities a chance to be on an equal playing field with their able bodied peers and experience fun, healthy activities.

Last year 120 STARS volunteers and instructors provided over 300 winter participants with 1000 plus days of adaptive ski lessons. In 2011, The Steamboat Wine Festival will again donate 5% of ticket sales and 100% of auction proceeds to this very worthwhile local nonprofit.
